memories for a lifetime
Community Service Internship
South Africa receives millions of tourists every year thanks to its beautiful white beaches, exciting sports activities, and diverse wildlife. As our organisation grows, so does our family, and we want you to be a part of it. We offer a variety of internships across multiple different areas of SAVE, as well as within organisations we work closely with. Our interns immediately become part of our family and are integral for the smooth running and impactful work that is being done.
The settlement is located approximately 32km from Cape Town centre and is home to around 3500 people living between 400 housing units. Each housing unit has access to running water, sanitation facilities and electricity as well as regular waste removal. Currently, there is no police station, medical facilities, shopping areas or job opportunities within the settlement. However, there are security guards often patrolling to maintain a safe environment for the residents.
SAVE assists the communities through specific programmes such as “Winter Hope” in which we provide warm clothing, shoes and blankets to families. Another regular program running involves assisting and educating communities in agriculture projects such as subsistence farming. With this, we help to start new vegetable gardens, maintain existing vegetable gardens and educate the community about growing food for their use. We engage the community members in regular education, motivation and social upliftment programmes throughout the year.
