Tanzania Medical Project

memories for a lifetime

Tanzania Medical Project

This diverse project has enormous potential to improve the level of primary health care that is provided to the rural communities in Tanzania. The project focusses on improving health care through education and awareness, as well as supporting medical treatment. Volunteers with different levels of experience and knowledge can be of great importance in assisting either in community work or within resourced medical hospitals.

On this project, you can work with two different hospitals depending on availability. One is situated in the Moshi region of Tanzania. It is a District Designated Hospital (DDH) based in the village of Singa, Kibosho East Division. The Hospital has ten departments, namely; Male, Female, Paediatric, Maternity, ante-natal, post-natal, post-surgical, dental, minor & major theatres, CTC & outpatient.

The second Hospital is located in Moshi. This is a district hospital treating approximately 150 patients each day. The Hospital has four central departments; surgical, gynaecology, paediatrics and outpatient Department. Volunteers can work in all departments. Women and children under five years old are usually treated at the Hospital for free.
